We’ve all heard the term “starving artist,” yet none of us wants to be one. So why are we so accepting of this romantic notion that it's noble or necessary to sacrifice material well-being to focus on our art? Nonsense! What can we do as artists to change society’s, and our own, perceptions? The truth is, for a successful artist, art is a business, no matter what the medium. What are your top three challenges to being a successful artist?  During this three-session, FUN and INTERACTIVE Business EXCELerator™ Series, we will: • Discuss your top three challenges • Brainstorm ways to overcome them and • Co-create a plan to achieve YOUR success

Our facilitator will be Sandi Ballard, owner of Growing Forward. Sandi has a diverse career background filled with entrepreneurial spirit. She began with a degree in graphic design, quickly becoming the art director of a small print shop. At a young age, she started her own business, Visual Communication Design Studio, where her tagline was "We make YOU look good". Sandi was always networking, connecting others, and looking for ways to help. She was excited by other people's successes. Her personality, and acting as a cheerleader and motivator for her friends, colleagues—and, yes, strangers, made her transition to business coach, consultant, and teacher a natural one.

The Second Annual Senior Sendoff will take place on April 16 at Fountain Square Theatres Action Duckpin Bowl. Seniors are invited to attend, enjoy food and bowling and network with alumni from IUPUI. IUPDAA Biennial and ISPD Spring Conference

Please join us for our spring conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at Historic Union Station in Indianapolis. We are excited about our joint continuing education program that our two organizations have scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Friday’s continuing education presentation is on Pediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology: Clinical Update, by IUSD faculty member, Dr. Paul C. Edwards. Dr. Edwards is a Professor in the Dept. of Oral Pathology, Medicine and Radiology. In the afternoon, we have scheduled a tour of the Riley Dental Clinic. If you have not been back to the clinic in a while you will not want to miss this tour. On Friday evening the Alumni Association will have a suite in the Crowne Plaza for both organizations to enjoy before and after your dinner plans.

The 2015 IUPUI Campus Classic, a three-on-three basketball tournament, will be held in the afternoon on Friday, April 24, 2015. The tournament will be held at the Campus Recreation Outdoor Facility located behind Hine Hall. Each team may register up to 4 members, with one person being an alternate player.

 

There will not be onsite registration available. Please be prepared to sign a participation waiver and present your Jag Tag upon arrival.

 

Cancellation Policy: Any team who registered, but is unable to make it to the tournament will not receive a refund. The paid registration fee will become a donation towards the scholarship that this event is benefiting. 

 

Food, beverages, prizes and t-shirts will be provided. Register your team NOW!

Students, alumni, and faculty/staff are invited and encouraged to form teams to participate in this new campus event, which will feature a community carnival with fun, food, and music. Teams will race against others in their respective categories, culminating in a final race between students, alumni, and faculty/staff with winners receiving bragging rights and a spot on the IUPUI Regatta Cup trophy.
