Join colleagues from across the region at one of Indianapolis's most unique cultural destinations, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, as we discuss issues affecting women's health. Designed for primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other health care providers who manage the primary health care needs of women in their practices and residents-in-training, topics will include mental health, body image, alternative therapies, and the basics of caring for women. The IU School of Medicine designates this education activity for a maximum of 7.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. LOCATION CHANGED: Due to overwhelming popularity, The IUSM Med School Family Orientation will now be taking place in the Campus Center 450 B and C. - Family members for the IU School of Medicine Class of 2013 are invited to attend a short orientation to the Medical School experience on Saturday, August 15, at 9:30 a.m. in Lecture Hall 101 on the IUPUI campus.

The Banquet & Awards Ceremony is an annual event sponsored by the graduating seniors and organized by the Class Officers. Awards are presented by students to honor faculty, staff and departments for outstanding service to their class. Please be sure to vote for your favorite on ANGEL prior to March 20, 2009. Students are also recognized by the School and Clinical Departments with numerous awards for distinguished performance in the clinics, classroom, and laboratories. The Senior banquet invitations will be sent via U.S. mail at the end of March. We will use the student's "current address" listed with Medical Student Affairs. There will be no charge for the student to attend and they will have the opportunity to purchase seats for their guest(s). The Keynote speaker for this year's ceremony will be Robert A. Harris, PhD.

The Indiana Orthopaedic Society, the IUSM Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the IU School of Medicine Alumni Association are hosting a reception for Indiana Orthopaedic Surgeons during the 2009 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meeting in Las Vegas. All Indiana surgeons and alumni of the IU School of Medicine are welcome to attend this event at Bally’s Las Vegas. Department Chair Jeffrey Anglen, M.D., and IOS President Stephen Mitros, M.D., will be in attendance to welcome all surgeons and Indiana University School of Medicine Alumni.

The IU School of Medicine and its Alumni Association welcome all School of Medicine alumni and guests to a brunch and cocktail reception with the Dean on Sunday, February 22, at the IUAA Winter College. Dean Craig Brater will speak on the international health partnerships of the IU School of Medicine. Specifically, the Dean will discuss the IUSM/Moi University partnership, a Nobel Prize nominated program helping to alleviate the AIDS/HIV epidemic in Kenya.

Operation: Education is a twist on the class game where you and your friends struggled to remove the funny bone or cure brain freeze. The program will provide you with opportunities to interact one-on-one with IUSM alumni physicians from diverse specialties and practice environments, discussing the realities of their specialty, the residency interview process, and residency programs in a speed networking environment. A dinner buffet will be provided for attendees. The evening will conclude with a friendly competition of Operation: Silly Skill Game with your classmates and colleagues. Admission is free but registration is required for this event.
