Inaugural IUPUI Regatta

Dear Potential Partner,

Mark you calendars. September 19th, 2009, is going to be the day that your company does not want to miss. That is the day of the Inaugural IUPUI Regatta whose purpose is to support student scholarship and unite our community of Indianapolis and the over 100,000 students and alumni living in our city.

As a graduate from the Kelley School of Business at IUPUI, and a volunteer to the University, I have seen the enormous changes and impact our great University has on our community. With the growth and change of our evolving campus and demographic of student, we have seen an opportunity to expand our reach across the community, nation and world.

The IUPUI Regatta is a canoe race on the downtown canal. The half mile course consists of the start/finish line in the Admiral Spruance Basin with the rower exchange taking place in the U.S.S. Indianapolis Basin. Teams are made up of four rowers and multiple crew members. There is a mandatory crew change at the U.S.S. Indianapolis Basin which will allow for a great dynamic. With the similar concept in mind as the Indiana University Little 500 and the Purdue Grand Prix in raising needed funds for student scholarships, we have added our own unique twist. Eligible rowers will include any IUPUI Student, Indiana University alumni from any of the eight affiliate campuses, and IUPUI faculty and staff.

The mission for the IUPUI Regatta is to develop a scholarship fund for Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis students. Our goals align with building an event that helps build awareness for the University and give students, faculty, staff, and alumni a greater sense of community. We will achieve our mission through the use of strategic relationships, our strong alumni base, and the support of a thriving and growing University.

There has never been an event like this for the IUPUI students, alumni, and the city of Indianapolis. The IUPUI Regatta will allow for your business to be presented in a unique way. You will be presented as supporting the advancement of our city’s youth, as supporting our diverse and healthy community, and promoting our great University. Your participation will dictate the amount of exposure prevalent during the event and within our marketing efforts (please see IUPUI Regatta Deck).
