Executive Council and Board FAQs
The Executive Council provides recommendations to the Board of Managers on matters such as the establishment of new programs, the review of existing programs and activities, the approval of investment policies, and amendments to the Articles of Incorporation or Code of Bylaws. The Council also advises the Board of Managers on the general management of the Association's affairs. The Board of Managers is the legal governing body of IUAA, Inc., and is responsible for the overall operation of the organization, as outlined in the Articles of Incorporation.
We will review engagement metrics and participate in small group discussions to understand their implications for volunteers. The afternoon session will be a focus group to gather feedback on programs and experiences. The final segment will be the Executive Council Business Meeting.
- There are four corporate committees:
- The Belonging Committee advises on matters related to developing and cultivating belonging within the Association, including programs and initiatives related to volunteer and staff training, representation on boards, committees, volunteer task forces, employee groups, vendors, and partners.
- The Finance Committee advises the Board on the oversight of the external audit, annual budget, tax return, affinity programs, financial management, and compliance.
- The Governance Committee advises the Board on the oversight of the corporate bylaws, code of ethics, board composition, and board effectiveness, and develops the annual nominations slate.
- The Strategic Planning and Outcomes Committee provides oversight of the strategic planning process, organizational initiatives, and IUAA programs and services.
During the formal Executive Council Business Meeting, which concludes the day's agenda, the Council may approve various reports and proposals. This includes approving minutes from previous meetings, hearing committee reports, and receiving updates from the Chief Alumni Officer. Often, specific initiatives or program areas are highlighted. If updates to bylaws, articles of incorporation, or other governance documents or policies are needed, the Council approves them at this meeting.
IU alumni are eligible to serve on the Executive Council or Board of Managers. Nominations for consideration in the next fiscal year are due by November 30.
